Eyes or Face First?

Now this is a topic that is very controversial. Should you do your eyes first then your face, or should you do your face first then your eyes? Honestly there is no right or wrong answer, you can do whatever you want! But I’m going to tell you what I personally like to do and the reasons why.

When I do my own makeup

I have a very relaxed/natural makeup routine lately. I don’t put on a lot because 9/10 times I’m on the go and in a hurry. I do my face first then my eyes. The reason why is because I really only put on mascara, or if I’m feeling fancy, eyeliner and lashes. That’s it. No eyeshadow for me. If I’m going out.. like out out.. which is rare (where are all my homebody girls???!! Because it’s me), I will do my eyes first because I don’t like it when fallout gets on my makeup. So I do my eyeshadow and eyeliner, then I do my face, then I put my lashes on so no powder gets on the lashes.

When I do my clients

Eyes first. Always. Basically for the same reason I stated above. When I’m doing an eyeshadow look, I don’t care how dramatic it is, I do not want to waste makeup or risk it getting on their face. So after I’m done with the eyeshadow and eyeliner, I take a makeup wipe and make sure there is no fallout under the eye and I continue on with the makeup applications.

So depending on your makeup routine, you can do either or. I like to play it safe and efficiently, so I do eyes first if I’m putting any kind of eyeshadow on. You are free to try out both ways and let me know what works better for you and your routine!

xoxo,
Katlyn
