SUMMER IS HERE!! I have been going to the beach and spending time outdoors as much as I can (when I’m not working of course!)! Have you been soaking up the sun too? Are you wearing sunscreen?! I know it’s like the most basic skincare tip for the summertime, but it’s really important to talk about because it’s not a one size fits all product! It’s so easy to run to Target and grab the first bottle you see, but I want you to know WHY you should be picky about the sunscreen that you use!
For my girls with hand-tied extensions, there are a few things I wanted to let you know about sunscreen before you use it and the best recommendations I can give you!
Summer Extension Care
Did you know that sunscreen can RUIN your extensions if you’re not careful? If you use a sunscreen with the ingredient avobenzone or octocrylene, it could change the color of your very expensive extensions to pink, orange, or even green. PERMANENTLY. Of course you can always wear your hair in a way that won’t touch your skin, but in my opinion it’s not worth it for a cheap bottle of sunscreen! Don’t worry boo, I did the research for you and here are the BEST sunscreens that are extension safe!
- Sun Bum Mineral SPF 50 Sunscreen
- Bare Republic Sport Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 50
- Salt & Stone Lightweight Sheer Daily Sunscreen – available at Curate Salon in Virginia Beach
These are all cruelty free!
Now you all know how important being cruelty free is to me, so for you ladies who don’t have extensions (yet!), I wanted to fill you in on my other favorite sunscreens that are not tested on animals!
1. Alba Botanica Kids Sunscreen SPF 45
This one smells soooo good and fruity and it’s less than $10!
2. Goddess Garden Sport SPF 50 Mineral Sunscreen Stick
I love this one because it’s totally vegan and it’s a sunscreen stick, for super easy application!
3. Babo Botanicals Sheer Zinc Sunscreen SPF 30
If you love a good spray sunscreen, this is your go to!!
I’m eliminating the guesswork for you, and here’s the link to my Amazon lists for easy shopping!! Take care of your skin and hair this summer, and be good to the animals while you’re at it, girl!
